Paul Coudamy's Cardboard Office
by sabine7 / November 3, 2008

For Paul Coudamy the challenge was to put together an office for Beast (an ad agency). Working on a one-month timeline with a restricted budget, Coudamy needed to come up with solutions for workspaces for 20, storage and meeting spots. The answer was 4cm thick water resistant honeycomb cardboard that was mounted only with wood glue and tape. All of the pieces are modular, so the office can be reconfigured as needed. An interesting feature is the meeting box, a confessional sort of nook that offers easy privacy.

I don't know if these designers know it, but cardboard releases fumes which are not healthy for you. It ain't a problem in small scale, but I wouldn't be working there (I study these things in uni).

That is the problem with many modern designs using cardboard and even worse chipboard. Those are seriously bad for ones health.

Wow, this looks pretty weird.... but seems to have a coolness-faktor ;-)

I think the fume problem depends on the type of adhesive you use.
For it to be a real eco-design, you should have a product spec. for solvents/adhesive used in the making of the cardboard and the assembly of the office etc.

But, nice one!

Isn't cardboard poisonous?
