MoCo correspondent Jesper Larsson shares his views of Tokyo Design Week with us over the next few days. First off he attended the Protoype Exhibition02, where work such as the Spiral Lamp by Chris Kirby and the hoop/pool/loop by In Design were on display. There were various versions of the Ellipse by Keiji Ashizawa, along with Topography by Thomas Antonietti and Nest by AN Architects, which is designed for galleries as display space. The Ch-Bed-Air by Yuichiro Yamanaka is a daybed-chair hybrid, and Stow by Leif.design park, a combination of ceramics and rattan. The Paper Size Tote by Miki Sakai is inspired by paper one way, but the Clover Chair by Drill Design actually uses coloured sheets of paper in between plywood. Also shown was Just Insert by Ben Nagaoka, among many more inspirational designs that get the ball rolling.
