With the holidays almost upon us we thought this interview might inspire us to reduce and beautify. Adrian Kondratowicz is the artist behind TRASH:anycoloryoulike, an art intervention in New York City. Trash from selected city blocks is re-bagged into Adrian's biodegradable ARP (art related product) trash bags that are naturally scented to repel vermin and insects. A pile of garbage becomes easy on the eye and encourages people to interact with their urban landscape in a different way. MoCo Loco contributor Josée Lepage caught up with Adrian recently and reported back to us.

2 words for inspiration?
Inspiration = accessibility + art.
Where is it going and where do you want it to go?
The project is becoming more and more international, with more people asking me to ''TRASH'' their cities. I want to do installations that are much bigger than the one I did this summer and use bags with new designs and color schemes. It's also important for me to expand the concept by securing distribution for the bags so that the sculptures can happen organically. For me selling the bags is making the work more accessible to people who wouldn't normally buy or look at art. The retail distribution model is part of my process. It's just another extension for me, another context of experiencing the work.

Cities?
I'd like to do NY again, and then SF, Boston, Miami, LA... I'd have to see which cities curb their trash. I'm pretty sure London and Paris do, so I'd like to organize something there. Since I funded the first series myself, I'm currently looking for companies that like the concept and would want to partner up with me to sponsor (commission) bigger installations. I think it's a novel way to add real value to how we experience the urban landscape.
