Dutch Design Week 2008 - Part 2
by sabine7 / October 27, 2008

Huibert van Muilwijk sends us more from Eindhoven: Jan van Hoof's Storyboard room divider, both substantial and yet ethereal, is made of cut-up books, whereas Jesse Pietila's Sheer Wall is as contradictory, but in a completely different way. Marbelous by Tineke Beunders is both a plaything and a table, complete with marbles. Karin Frankenstein's pieces are made from a mixture of sand and cow dung, among other materials, and Judith van den Boom's stools are ceramic. Halldorophone #5 by Halldor Ulfarsson is an electronic and acoustic string instrument that issues sound that are a combination of cello, organ, whale and Hendrix riff. The Replex table by Ruud van Hemert makes use of old furniture, and the Mushroom Shelf by Katharina Mischer simply looks like a shelf left out in the woods. And the Pro(ae)sthetics by Francesca Lanzavecchia are a new way to approach assisted walking.
