MoCo contributor Huibert van Muilwijk from Dutch design studio Made by Midas is covering Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven again for us this year. As usual there is a wide array of talent and creativity that seems to be denser here than at most shows. To start our coverage off, we have the Infected Crystal Virus installation by Pieke Bergmans for Priveekollektie and the Hanglamp and Hangkast by Bold Design. Salome Kleb showed a pointillist door, and Jord Beets had the No. 135 chair on display. The Pile of Suitcases by Maarten de Ceulaer has been getting attention, as has the GlamMore wardrobe by Willem Deridder. Els Woldhek's electroplated lamps are bold, but Marieke Staps's Soil Lamp is more subtle, relying on soil-filled test tubes that need a monthly splash of water. And Jón Björnsson's Paper Trail lamps come in 3 versions: 1) the finished product, 2) a DIY version, and 3) the downloadable drawing.
