Refuge Pavilion
The Refuge Pavilion by architecture firm Francisco Portugal e Gomes is an annex to an existing house in Santiago / Penafiel that makes use of recycled stone and granite. An uncovered yard serves as the entranceway and between this yard and the covered section is a nucleus housing the shower so that all the pavilion space is used as one open area with terrific wraparound views. The use of stone, granite, slate and wood allows the pavilion to blend into the region.
