London Design Festival: Lee Broom
by sabine7 / September 23, 2008

Lee Broom's Rough Diamond collection, the follow-up to Neo Neon, was launched during the London Design Festival at the Brick Lane Gallery and featured 6 new neon-embellished chairs. Broom sourced vintage furniture and used light to update classic pieces into contemporary statements. Bright on Bistro is a classic bentwood chair found at a tea house in Brighton, and the Luminaire Bergère shown above, an unfinished Parisian relic, is a one-of-a-kind juxtaposition of old and new. Side Show is an original Thonet chair bejewelled by the type of fairground lightbulbs that grace the spoonback Corner Girl and the leather Chesterfield Club Chair.

i saw this in london, shook my head and thought 'what a pile of crap, its contributing nothing to the design world.' but what upset me the most is that i knew the press would love it.. please see thru its superficial attempt to cash in on design-art!! design something with integrity! post something with integrity!

Statement pieces are growing popularity. "Design-art" critics aside, these would be a cool motra addition to any interior!
