La Rotonda
by sabine7 / September 11, 2008

La Rotonda is a project designed by Andrea Di Filippo and Enrico Zanolla of DZ Studio for the exhibition 'Nx500: Designers interpret Andrea Palladio' in Vicenza. Palladio's use of mathematical precision played an important part in his architecture and a good example of this would be the circular domed central hall. The table and chairs represent the Palladian Villa Almerico Capra, also known as La Rotonda, whose central hall was the perfect meeting place and point at which to observe the landscape around, through the four loggias. The loggias today are represented by the chairs, and the table is the spot at which to discuss ideas gleaned from the view on the world.
