Sovrappensiero's Rifletti mirror is bisected by a segment that has been removed and set further back, right at eye level, so when the viewer looks into the mirror he or she must look beyond the superficial. The text embossed upon the glass reminds that to look beyond the soft veil of light is to look deep within, into the unexplored passages of the soul. The blind cannot rely on appearances; it is folly for the sighted to do so.
This cannot be for blind people, right? When we look through the split and see our eyes, we are meant to see inside ourselves?
This design is more of a concept than something that could be used by a blind person. It's an invitation to look further than the appearance, and to look within yourself; this is something blind people would have to do naturally everyday when forming relationships with other people.
