Formex Stockholm 2008: Celebrating Traditions
by sabine7 / September 2, 2008

Husmusen blogger Frida Berglund spent a lot of time at the Formex show this past weekend and brings us up to date on what's new in Stockholm.

This autumn's trend theme at the Formex Fair in Stockholm was Celebrating Traditions, focusing firmly on the Nordic countries and their venerable craft traditions.

A sustainable and inspirational trend exhibition made by the Scanadinavian trend expert Jan Rundgren mixed traditional Scandinavian handicraft with things that are bang up to the minute. You could see brands such as Bantie, Swedese, Rörstrand, Anna Viktoria, Design House Stockholm, and Lisa Bengtsson together with cool birch-bark knapsacks, grandma's lace, funky spinning wheels and updated Mora-style grandfather clocks. Swedish dala horses with kurbits decorations were rubbing shoulders with modern objects and the latest high-tech manifestations of street art, music and high fashion.
