MADE in the WEST: Part 1
by Greg / May 27, 2008

Presented by arthouse and curated by Laura Fenniak and John Greg Ball, MADE in the WEST is a show featuring the talents of 29 artists and designers from across Western Canada. Their work is as varied as the West itself and the show is a reflection of the amazing talent that resides in Western Canada. Day one of MitW opened in Calgary last weekend and is complete with new work including Brent Comber's Alder Kiss made of bundles of logs, Omer Arbels' 21 series ceramic lighting, Shinny table by Joel Tobman who uses reclaimed hockey sticks and arena glass for his table. Loyal Loot has a new soft and flexible soft table. Propeller's colorful pomegranate light, Shoko Cesar shows us Layers of time with new black layer for oil. New colors in the Massieoffice Flying Vee, a tobaggon shaped lounge, and a giant White Moose! More after the jump....

I love the Toboggan - what a great conversation starter! I can imagine that talk would immediately slide to nostalgic winter memories (minus the cold weather and broken arms).
Wonder what it feels like to lean back, though .... Did anyone try it out?
