Tomorrow we're going to the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York. Sabine Modder, Sally Kuchar, Jaime Kopke and I will be covering the show every day (and for days afterward).
Here's a question for all the full time, and part time, New Yorkers:
Seeing as the Jacob Javits Center is in a somewhat barren/ industrial area, where are the closest good restaurants?
Feel free to include fast food places, and for that matter, any good restaurants that you can recommend in NYC in general. Praize the place in MoCo Local (learn more here) and we'll include you in a draw for a free book; Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan's Apartment Therapy Presents: Hundreds of Design Solutions. Please leave a valid email address when you register so that if you get picked we can contact you and send you the book. Thanks for sharing your favorites.

i used to work in the area and one of my favorite places is daisy may's (bbq) at 46th/11th.
:
hk's at 39th/9th.
:
actually most any restaurant between 34th/46th on 9th is a good chance.
Oh, good call! I would have never thought to ask this question!
There will be time to eat?
GO GO Curry on 38th and 8th is a pretty cute stop in for Japanese style curry.
I'm a sucker for Chipotle, so often stop at the one at 34th and 8th ave when on my way to Javits. Love the pork burrito.
There's some good thai on 49th and 9th, Pam Thai.
If you want to stay in the general area for dinner, Becco is a pretty fun italian place, on 46th btw 8th and 9th, they have an all you can eat pasta special that can't be beat, and good wine list. Try to avoid the theater rush though, it's a madhouse at that time.
Then, if you head downtown, one of my favorite places is In Vino in the East Village, 4th St btw Ave A and B, excellent italian wine and food.
Let me know if there's anything in particular you're looking for!
The Half-King @ 23rd St & 10th ave
Four blocks south of the Javitz Center on 11th Ave. past the rail yard is an old warehouse building with a huge arched doorway. Inside, in the back, is 'Wichcraft' - a really good sandwich shop with some tables in the giant hallway. It's close to Javiz, good for a quick lunch and a nice break from the crowd.
Try Highline out. It's a modern Thai restaurant with one of the best interior designs in all of NYC. Food is great too.

835 Washington St (just take cab down West side highway to 12th St.)
If you don't mind going a little bit south there are lots of options affordable and expensive at Chelsea Market.
Was in town from Chicago this weekend and literally had a religious experience at Sushi Yasuda near 43rd and 3rd, they are open for lunch m-f, they have the highest zagat rating in america for a sushi restaurant, I sat at the sushi bar and ordered Omakase (chefs choice) F**king Genius, a must if you are still in town.
