Milan Design Week 2008: Farm by Studio Job
by sabine7 / April 18, 2008

In complete contrast to the Robber Baron series, not to mention the Swarovksi Globe, Studio Job has created Farm, an installation of design that takes us back to the land and our rural roots, which need to be recognized and respected – a reminder that they “feed and fuel us”. The installation takes place in a hidden courtyard in the city centre, in a stark white hall that is a barn-like space. The 24 bronze works and 6 pieces of simple furniture are evocative of the rural traditions of the low countries of Germany, Flanders and the Netherlands.

Much more from Milan next week.

I find the simple geometric forms and juxtapostion of surface finishes very intriguing.

There's something pleasantly lyrical about it all.

Thanks for the post.

This actually seems disrespectful of real farm culture whose objects are beautiful and functional. Silly, unnecessary, wasteful... everything agrarian culture stands against. How much more ironic wink wink design can we absorb?
