Introducing MoCo Local
by Harry / April 7, 2008

Every May when I go to New York for the ICFF show my goal is to stay at the best hotel and eat at the best restaurants NYC has to offer. Ah yes, Harry's living the high life - ah, not quite. The best isn't always the most expensive, in fact for me the best is good value for money and usually it's as little money as possible. Many of you know where these best places are because we've asked you and you've shared them with us. In turn, we've shared some places with you. And now, with MoCo Local, all those best places can be praised (we call it praized) and shared with everyone.

+ beta.mocolocal.com

How it works

If you're looking for something in the USA or Canada simply head over to MoCo Local and search as you would any local directory.

The database already has 17 million records so you're almost certain to find something. If that something has been praized by someone it will show up at the top of the results.

If you click on the merchant name, you can see all the associated comments as well as a map of where it's located.

And if you sign up you can create a list of favorite places that you can share with friends. It's beta software so it won't always work as intended, and if it doesn't please let us know.

In the weeks to come you'll be seeing MoCo blog posts with a pushpin graphic in it. The pin denotes a place in MoCo Local and the percentage beside it is the percent of positive praise. Clicking on the pin will take you to the details + comments page for that merchant.

Whoa, 17 million entries? That's intense... I look forward to putting MoCo Local through its paces... it will be interesting to see how the percentages shape up when entries have a lot of praizes.

Basically, this is Praized Media with a Moco Loco face? I guess I don't see the point. I went to the site and didn't find anything specifically MoCo. Seems like a different skin on another site.

B*A*M*F, there's a lot more on the way, this is just the beginning.
