The week really began on Sunday with Maira Kalman’s book The Principles of Uncertainty, which we loved so much that it carried over into Monday. Absolutely delightful illustrations and many contemplative musings by an artist with an observant eye.

Korin Faught was next up, with paintings of young women who take on each other’s identity.

The Smokin’ Hand is the protagonist in the Terra LaChance series A Week in 1953, 14 embroidered pieces that hint at the life of an elegant housewife named Marge.

Now these are truly brushstrokes! Martina Nehrling can work our colour wheel any day. What a sense of emotion is imparted by this artist.

If the weekend brings travel, just think of Xero’s Flight Zero series that references religious iconography along with the familiar flight safety card. SM
