Pascale Girardin is known for her ceramic work and was honoured, in fact, as one of the 10 Innovative Canadian Designers at IDS08. There was a wonderful cascade of her ceramic pieces that ended up in a luscious heap in a wooden chest, a veritable treasure. Her work was also seen at Radiant Dark. But it was the move to a huge resin sculptural piece lit with LED that was the most spectacular indication that this Montreal designer was a strong presence in Toronto. Massie Office, also among the 10 Innovative Canadian Designers showed a new chair design along with some shelving cubbies. It was a real pleasure to meet brothers Paul and Chris Massie. Loyal Loot Collective, who also had a presence at Radiant Dark and shared in the honours of the 10 Innovators, had a fantastically woody exhibit at IDS08 that really highlighted their work to good effect. It was also a great way to discover Fishbol, a Toronto-based design team that originated in Ottawa, now presenting their great Bookseat.
