If you're reading this we're back up. Yep, we are having mysterious php and Apache problems again, sudden memory spikes that are causing system outages. May be related to compiling, anyone have any insight?
Please bear with us, we're doing our best to stamp out the bug.

hmm.. looking at the code i'd say the only problem apache is having is ur use of absolute links in the code. if apache doesn't recompile correctly, it usually wouldn't work very well.
site runs faster when scripts are turned off.
do you even know what compiling means?
No idea. Fortunately, I'm not the one working on the fix. There's a bunch of people at Six Apart, at Liquid (our totally awesome hosting service) and tech folks I work with who've been working hard to isolate the problem. As well as emails from people like twilightcinema above trying to help. Thanks to all BTW.
