+ The original design dates back to 1939, but Isamu Noguchi's coffee table remains a classic, and is still available thanks to Vitra Design Museum. JS
On Christmas Eve 2007 as I was leaving a friend's get-together in an upscale building, I was stunned to see Noguchi's coffee table sitting outside in the rubbish area, surface pristine, leg modestly damaged. Who throws away such a thing?
