One of the events that took place last week in Eindhoven was the opening of Design House, a new design centre. The inaugural exhibition is a retrospective of work by Studio Job, the efforts of Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel. BOLD features 40 works that reflect Studio Job, mixing size, shape and materials to “question the common notions on functionality, mass-production and style”. Common objects are made with tactile materials and magnified and the blown up result has succeeded in making a new design out of the original object. BOLD is the type of rich and punchy show that makes Dutch Design Week so exciting.
