We had a look at portraiture in a variety of forms this week, with a range of subjects. Jill Greenberg’s monkey portraits are quite well known for the emotion that comes across through the primates’ expressive faces.

Greenberg went on to capture the ursine personality and built an outdoor studio in Alberta to do so. The results are impressive, considering Canadians have been taught to practice bear avoidance techniques.

Barbie was the subject of oil paintings last week, but this week we let ourselves be seduced by Darlene Shiels’ doll faces. Photogenic, or what?

Jamal Vrno’s cartoon style doesn’t take away from the seriousness of his topics and the emotion that lies beneath.

Keith Tyson does not focus only on the human form in his ambitious Large Field Array installation, but this silicone sculpture certainly gets our attention.
