Wood x Plastic Shelf
by sabine7 / October 3, 2007

Hunn Wai’s new designs, which focus on joinery, will be featured during Dutch Design Week at the Eindhoven Academy’s graduation show later on this month. His Tre di Una chairs (low, dining and high) break down generic wooden chairs into the basic elements, only to be rejoined with colourful plastic clay. Wai’s Wood X Plastic shelf is a simple shelf of acrylic sheets pierced with poles of beech. Looks like an easy idea, but it’s all in the impaling. The poles are pushed through small heated holes that contract around the wood when cool.
