Anti-Theft Bike/Car Device
There’s nothing like the feeling of having a brand new car or bike and the accompanying fear that this screams out, “Steal me!” Dominic Wilcox has come up with a reasonably simple way of preventing theft by applying fake rust and scratch stickers to shiny vehicles. Wilcox does not claim that this method is a guarantee against heartbreak, but it has worked for him, as he spells out in his disclaimer. “13 days of not being stolen in London probably equates to 7 years of non-stealing in the friendly countryside.”

WOW... pointless
Kills the point of having a "new car" (purposely make ur car look like s***?). You could just save thousands by buying an old car instead.
I think, perhaps, the fake "Dog Doo" or Rubber Vomit from a novelty store would be equally as effective. But the rust IS funny and probably works. Thanx
Seriously... You trash your car so nobody wants it??
I wouldn't want it either!
I can't quite understand how people give life to some ideas...
It's a playful and fun concept. No one is saying you have to ride around with the bike/car like that (maybe take off the stickers). Main debate is, would a little rust deter thieves.
dear to answer your main debate:
"Nah"......... Just buff it out and send the afforementioned stolen vehicle to South America.
My debate is: Would the rust decals prevent theft of expensive decorative items in boutique hotels?
had a shitty, rusted, cracked frame of a bike here in ny. came out of a movie and it was gone. this was a bike i didn't care if it got stolen. someone gave it to me, it had been outside in their back yard for 4 years. thieves grab stuff cuz they think they can get a few bucks for it, not because it looks new. designer guy probably had a bike that was ripped off, and he thinks no one will want a junker. but they get grabbed anyway...
i think its a good idea... if you buy enough and keep them all over your car... when you need to go out and impress someone... its super easy to rip them off
These stay after washing? Nevertheless, won't be very effective here.
