Geoffrey Mann is a self-described product artist, creating unique pieces of art that often incorporate light sources. Mann’s works are made through rapid prototyping, using a plaster composite; others are glass. Above is a piece from the Flight series that depicts a bird landing. After the jump there is another version of the bird landing, as well as a nylon piece that depicts the movement of a moth attracted to light and stymied by the constraints of a lampshade. Incredible work.

Flight Landing.

Attracted to Light.

Reminds me of both E. Muybridge's early experiements with motion photography, and of course Duchamp's Nude Descending a Staircase. Brancusi worked a bit with birds as well. I thought these were carbon fiber, then I had the idea that the models were egg whites dripped into boiling water.
Interesting stuff, beautifully photographed.
