Taking Things Seriously: 75 Objects with Unexpected Significance
by Harry / August 19, 2007

A book about meaning and objects - a theme you may have noticed we've been exploring for a while now on MoCo Loco (notably in our latest interviews). Unlike what we've been going on about the objects in this book aren't designed objects, they're personal found things; a pile of dirt, a petrified bagel, a pine cone, 75 in all. Each comes with a compelling personal story. I've actually got a lot of objects like these, things I've collected in my lifetime that I couldn't/can't part with, small, otherwise insignificant things with meaning only for me. No wonder then when I saw this book, I had to have it too. Paperback, 176 pages, 85 illustrations, $11.90 at Amazon.

Ergh! I was just about to do a clean sweep and do a big household purge. Then I see this book that encourages me to rationalize and justify .... Maybe we should simply document our treasures, a nice photo and few lines of text, create a handsome coffee table book, THEN chuck.
