Sunrise
by Harry / August 6, 2007

Designer Lauren Moriarty will be launching a new type of lampshade at this Fall's London Design Festival, called Sunrise the lampshade is made with a printed thermochromic layer that gradually changes color when exposed to heat from a light bulb. The lampshade "despicts the image of the image of the London skyline and creates the effect of the sun rising when the light is switched on".

Isn't it beautiful! Where can I get info on its availability? Unfortunately this product isn't mentioned on Lauren's website...

What a clever idea. Although it might be a bit disappointing to turn on this lamp and find that the shade isn't "warmed up" enough to actually provide you any light.

Very interesting.... I'd like to see a version that would work with LED or compact florescent bulbs.
