Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, is readying itself for “Provoking Magic: Lighting of Ingo Maurer”, an exhibition of several site-specific installations by Maurer, as well some of his other commissioned pieces and documentation of much of his work. A custom-built version of the Golden Ribbon will be featured, along with recent works such as Rose, Rose on the Wall and 1001 Lights. Cooper-Hewitt is located in the Andrew Carnegie Mansion and Maurer will include whispering portraits of Carnegie and his wife, Louise. The exhibition opens September 14 and runs through January 27, 2008.
