Is green the new black? Or is black still the new black? What colour do you like to use most in your designs?
I don't know about green or black. Orange seems to be the re-occurring colour in my work. And I still don't get bored with it. Ben Oostrum

We just have to paint our objects some color, that's it - we almost never use color as an emotional tool. Art Lebedev
It seems that way a little now doesn't it? If it is, then that's not such a bad thing. We're pretty low pro on the color in a majority of our pieces, but we just put out a lounge chair & ottoman where we are now tackling upholstery and are making decisions based on those colors. Our first lounge we made was in lime green. We had to get the fabric shipped from overseas and the green arrived before the blue, so that was the deciding factor. Brave Space Design
What is it with green really? We can't wait for the "Design" green trend to disappear, it's been going on forever and it's so boring. Black is OK as long as it's well used, but the shiny black plastic trend is also really boring. Apart from black and white, the colors we use the most are cardboard brown and electric blue/Cyan (we are actually in love with electric blue). Big-Game
If you work in three dimensional design, you always work with materials that already have a certain colour. If you give the material a specific colour I think you work against the material. It's a bit different with synthetic materials that come in a variety of colours, but if I can't think of a convincing reason why the product should have a certain colour, I'd go for white, off-white, black, grey, transparent. If the question was metaphorically then I think green is definitely the new black! Or (product)red! These products give the customer the feeling of doing something good for the environment, and are commercially a success. Florian Kräutli
For me, color is something that’s integral to the function of an object, even if that function is purely narrative. In the case of the vases, I chose colors and a surface finish that felt earthy and natural yet also made reference to technology and products. Robert Langhorn
If green is the new black then that would mean it's only a trend. We hope it isn't the case. Designers need to act responsibly while finding ways to be creative and make a living from it. We don't believe that's something impossible to achieve on the long run but the changes need to be made now and designers need to push the green agenda to their clients and the public. Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino and Karola Torkos
Who ever thought green was the new black is seriously disturbed. My choice of colour is related to the design. Mostly my designs are best in greys, whites or black. Frederik Roijé
I have a soft spot for colors popular in the 60's. That said, I believe all colors are equal. After a form is developed then I look at it and ask myself what colors would suit that particular form and material. Laurie Beckerman
I reckon 'green' is the new black across the board really... though I favour white generally - it's clean and easy and transmits light well. In my recycled range ('other people's rubbish') it's really easy to get hold of white bottles, unlike all the colour I need. 'Fullcolour' is also a favourite of mine of course... Heath Nash

Echoes from Brasil and western Europe tell me it's orange and lime green which seem to be the new black...since forever! Also studies have shown that orange is one of the most disliked colors. So I don't understand... don't designers know that all colors have their own psychological tendency? I demand more respect to emerald green, to crimson, to petroleum blue,...and to our eyes!
Black never stopped being the new black.
I used to work in the fashion industry and I remember when lime and orange first came on board, to much resistance. Now no one blinks an eye. I suppose they will soon assume the has-been status of the once popular avocado and harvest gold.
Green is Green...and Black will always be Black!
