Well-known for his flashy ‘Hail Mother Mary, Save My Data’ USB memory stick, Luis Eslava’s most recent project included a much more modest material... velcro. In his 2007 ‘Face to Face’ installation for the Design Museum in London, Eslava utilized velcro’s unique qualities to create several reconfigurable light fixtures. Simple both in concept and construction, the choice of white velcro softened the light source, giving the fixtures a gentle glow. JK
