We started the week at Art MoCo with a double shot of Guerra de La Paz, a Miami duo that creates figures out of discarded clothing. On Monday we looked at their war-themed camouflage installations that certainly do not separate Church from State.

Then we approached the work of Guerra de la Paz from another angle and looked at their colourful environmental scenes, like trees from the four seasons.

Diana Puntar uses a variety of ordinary materials in her sculptures as well, but we haven’t detected any signs of used clothing. Foam, however, is something Puntar does use often, to great effect.

More war and peace followed, by way of works by Shepard Fairey whose propaganda posters are a certain sign of the times.

And the week ended on a lighter note, with Women Who Fly, by Andrea Arroyo. Women representing moments in history and mythology come to life in vivid forms and colours in Arroyo’s work. SM
