This Week From Tokyo
by Jean / June 13, 2007

We're trying something new... Tokyo based MoCo Loco contributing editor Jean Snow will be sending in regular reports from his adoptive city. Here's the first. Harry

+ Superstar designer Naoto Fukasawa is all over the media of late, first a few weeks ago in the latest issue of Metropolis magazine, and then in another piece for the International Herald Tribune. If that's not enough Fukasawa for you, you can always pick up the just released new monograph from Phaidon.

+ This past week's Tokyo design event was the "Interior Lifestyle" show at Tokyo Big Sight -- keep checking MoCo Loco for coverage of some of the most interesting wares that were on display.

+ The month of June means rainy season for Tokyo, thankfully PingMag is there with a few joyous tips on how to stay happy and dry with a few choice accessories, including 100%'s fun Stand Umbrella.

+ And for innovative architecture, SANAA -- comprised of the duo of Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa -- known in the media for their large-scale public works, are gaining quite a following for their house projects, which you can read more about in SANAA Houses, due out in July, and previewed here.
