The Loftcube gets more press. Paradoxically, the genius of the Loftcube is the modular interior which doesn't get much attention in this book. That said, several contemporary and out of the ordinary small spaces do get mentioned in this book whose focus is architectural detail. Organized around four themes; Mediating the Outdoors, Spatial Boundaries, Ordering of Contents and Surfaces and Finishes, Small Environments does provide a lot of new and different ideas for creating small spaces. A lot of the spaces are familiar to design blog readers, some having notably been featured here in MoCo Loco (Loftcube, Micro-Compact Home, i29) and Apartment Therapy (Convertible Studio). Worth a glance if you're building and looking for ideas. Hardcover, 192 pages, 250 photos/illustrations, $34.00 at Amazon.
