It is hard not to put designers on a skillfully conceived pedestal (of their own making) in homage to their creativity and skill. But every once in while we need to be reminded that they, too, are mere mortals and that, in fact, it is heir very humanness and ability to respond to human need that leads to their success. So from time to time we’ll be asking questions that will reveal glimpses of what else makes designers tick.
This week: What is your favorite snack?
Victor Vetterlein: I like apples because of their color, shape, texture, and taste. Apples give me energy.
Cynthia Hathaway: Another one’s lips. It’s Spring, don’t you know!
Daniel Rohr: Eating is very important to me, primarily a snack or a meal becomes a good one, if the social aspect comes to the foreground. The hot-dog around the corner or in another country can become a cultural and culinary moment. Spending time together, talking, listening to someone makes a snack a special one.
Frederik Molenschot: Pomelo!
Alain Berteau: Litres of San Pellegrino sparkling water.
Mike Giles and Devin Barrette: Devin’s actually a big fan of sweets, but swears he only indulges occasionally! So for him it would have to be ' Ben & Jerry's' Vermonty Python ice cream. It's made up of coffee liqueur ice cream with a chocolate cookie crumb swirl and fudge cows. It's highly addictive, so watch out. I love sweet stuff too, but give me a bag of Snyders of Hanover Organic Honey Mustard Pretzels and you will see my face light up…They are virtually impossible to find in Canada, so the thrill of the “chase” makes them so much better!!!
We'd like to know what your favorite designer snack is, leave a comment with your answer. The best answer, as determined by a highly unscientific survey of MoCo contributing editors will merit a copy Michael Worgotter's **Type Selector, The User-Friendly Font Swatch, "This clever new guide contains 226 fonts from all the major type libraries in well over 1,000 typefaces. Its utility and careful design make it both the ideal power tool for day-to-day design work... Simple yet ingenious: combines the qualities of a type samples book with the attractions of a colour sampler".

My answer doesn't count, but this is such a great question! For me, it's definitely a pomegranate. Mother nature designed them so well! Every time you think your done with one, you find out there's a whole other treasure of juicy seeds behind a wall, it's magic! I eat so many that my fingers become stained!
I like to experiment with flavors. Goldfish and root beer, air-popped popcorn with white cheddar and red-robin seasoning toppings, and apple pie with milk on top are some of my all time favorites. I guess my ultimate favorite snack would have to be craisins (cranberry raisins), they are very tasteful and great for a late night working snack (not messy).
Hanover Organic Honey Mustard Pretzels are my favorite of the aforementioned snacks. The pretzels are everywhere here, I don't know what I would do without them. It helps a lot that I'm from Pennsylvania (Hanover, PA).
how about my favorite design student snack?
that would be anything that's free. honestly, my classmates and i spend all day and all night in studio, usually forgetting to eat. so whatever is around: refreshments for a gallery opening, free samples at a grocery store, old snacks found in the studio...whatever we can get our hands on without having to pay, that's my favorite snack.
on the student theme I'll chime in. fingernails are my favourite, especially while designing. I have to a pencil in each hand just to stop myself.
