There are some designers that leave people indifferent and then there's Philippe Starck, you like or you don't, there's no indifference. To a lesser degree Tord Boontje has the same kind of effect and now there’s a book that some will like and others won’t (I like both Starck and Boontje, but I respect your right not to). Found it on the DWR blog in a post titled Not bored with Tord. The coffee table book features sketches, design renderings, and text written by former Craft editor Martina Margetts. Per the publisher Rizzoli, the book is not just a book it’s “an art object in itself, featuring a number of custom printing effects—stencils, perforated and die-cut pages, and textured and woven details—that capture the intricacy of Boontje's approach to pattern-making.”. Which is one of the reasons I like Tord Boontje, when he commits to a project he goes all the way, so you don’t just get a book, you get a design object. Hardcover, 224 pages, 300+ illustrations, $47.25 at Amazon.
