My hometown newspaper The Montreal Gazette today published a full page article on MoCo design called The democratization of design. Focused on how design is making it's way into our everyday, how it's more accessible and affordable than ever before, and how in Montreal in particular, a historical city with innumerable architectural gems, modern is making it's way into every available nook and cranny. Throw a rock and you'll break a full floor plate glass window on any of dozens and dozens of slick condo projects here. Most cities in North America only have one IKEA, we have two (and they are huge, 600,000 sq. ft. in all). Those with a fatter wallet can easily get the latest B&B Italia or Roche Bobois in one of three design districts. If you go by consumption alone, there's no doubt that Montreal is a design city.
I'm quoted in the piece as is design*sponge and there are links to a clutch of other design blogs; Apartment Therapy, Créativité Montréal, sfgirlbybay, decor8, Design Milk, desiretoinspire, and Not Martha. Thanks Susan!
