MoCo Loco banner
by Harry / February 26, 2007

We've been working with graphic designer Ryan Crouchman to redo our now tired MoCo Loco buttons (the ones you may have seen on some fine design blogs) and although we know which one of the five proposed buttons we like, we thought you might like to see them too. You can see all five here. Leave a comment and let us know what you think. BTW, Ryan also designed the Praized logo for us a while back.

well, the 02.a has the less "disturbing" impact for the eye, so you only pay attention in the logo.

the candy and the eyes are too much "story tellers" for my taste so its novedous, but soon boring

I'm quite a fan of the "ripple" one- very subtle and attention getting all at once.

I agree with both previous comments - the 'eye candy' concept is too involved, and the 'story' is too transparent.

Rothko Ripple is smooth, seductive, and ambiguous enough to not evoke thoughts beyond moco.

None of them strike me as good at all. The last one, 2b is the only one that draws me in. I would have to say to concentrate less on the cliché attempt to mimic a famous artist or designer and allow the name and lettering to express the visual solution. A copy of a copy of a copy is just that.

Something between the Ripple and the Ripen. Nipple?

LOL

In my opinion:
02a hands down. Subtle, yet noticeable.
The 1 series is intrusive and non-intuitive— I keep seeing fishes, or Druid symbols, not eyes.
02b is more attention getting, but "tooo-ti fruitti".

The ripple for sure. But perhaps it could be sped up a tad/

2a and 2b, series 1 doesn't float my boat at all I'm afraid. If you pushed me, I'd say 2a for preference, but I like both.

I like the 02.a Rothko Ripple logo. The reason:
"Droplets ripple outwards, creating a pattern which references the overlapping shapes within the logo. The circular forms are also reminiscent of a modernist-era aesthetic" - there is another meaning I can see here: like circles in water spread widely when something drops in, in the same way you spread all over the world the best in design. This is the best symbol a site can have :)

I quite like 02.a

ripple 2a all the way. stylish and sophisticated and not as contrived as the eye candies of which 2b is the least annoying, in my opinion.

Very clever use of the Moco logo in both series. They are clean, stylish, and witty.

Nice simple concept.

My two cents: Keep the eye small, and centered on the overlap, so when it twists and turns into candy, then the overlap, it doesn't need to morph into it.

Small is cool. It's the new black I think.

2.a is the only one!
