Table Displaced, Stool Displaced
by Harry / January 10, 2007

Ian Gonsher's Table Displaced and Stool Displaced combine an iconic wooden table and chair with an acrylic outer layer that both serves a practical use and frames the object.

Whats the practical use of the table inside of the table? Better wear? UV protection? Seems a bit silly to want to build an acrylic box around an average looking table, why not something more decorative and worthy? And on the other hand the stool isn't framed, but merely suspended, for what reason? A trick of the eye, not very well done we can plainly see the acrylic box that holds it up or covers it... ...

I agree with G's comments on the lack of decor and worth. As for practical use, there's tons of pieces out there that look great but are nowhere near user friendly.

This definitely is not the prettiest of things nor does it feel like a finished item, but I like where he's going with the thought process. Just needs to be pimped up a bit.

I would have been impressed if the acrylic was molded around the furniture instead of cutting the furniture in half. I think it is still a work in progress and it should be thought more.
