Here's my Top 5 list for 2006. JS

One of the things I enjoy the most about a trade show like 100% Design Tokyo is discovering the new designers or companies that are trying to find buyers/distributors, and +F (piu effe) was one of my favorites this year. Their innovative clock-based range is both stylish and amusing.



This post is from the 2005 edition of 100% Design Tokyo, but the METAPHYS products pictured (the Cyclone and Factory) were only being previewed then, and 2006 is the year that METAPHYS started getting some deserved notice (witness the large booth they had at the Good Design Presention exhibition in August). I've loved pretty much all of chief designer Chiaki Murata's products for the brand, and am definitely looking forward to see what lies ahead in 2007.



Nendo's Oki Sato seems to be everywhere, and getting into his head is a rare treat. I don't think I could pick one favorite item that came from Nendo, which just goes to show how much I enjoy Sato's work.



Again, a post from 2005, but at the time the unit hadn't released any products yet, and so 2006 is the year that finally saw some retail action from them, starting with the Nekko vase, as well as another nice showing at this year's 100% Design Tokyo.



I could have included any number of products designed by Naoto Fukasawa, but let's go with the lovely Neon, which has been my phone of choice for most of the year.
