Bahavana
by Harry / December 12, 2006

There are a couple of items from the St-Etienne Biennale that are worth taking a closer look at; Yair Amishay’s Bahavana carpet is one of them. The classic Persian-style carpet is actually made of plastic beads. The colored beads are arranged and then ironed until they fuse together to make an integrated whole. Made for use indoors and out.

Absolutely beautiful site. I am a teacher who is absolutely stunned at the collection of creative work on your site.

when you say "ironed" you mean like... ironing clothes?
wow.

Yep, ironed like ironing clothes. I remember having those bead sets as a kid... we made potholders with them. We called them "Hama beads", and I believe Hama is the company that made them.
