Today’s picks and submissions.

We like making more out of less, so when Lloyd at Treehugger sent in a link to Derek Porter Studio, an architectural lighting design firm, one of their projects, Briarcliff Residence (Portfolio>Residential), caught our eye. It’s a windowless basement renovation, a space that’s normally neglected and used for stuff we never use, but a minimalist interior design combined with judicious use of ambient lighting makes the space quite livable.

+ Eastern Market Rowhouse Addition, a glass and steel addition by David Jameson Architect in Washington, D.C. @ architechnophilia. “The entire steel frame not only serves as the structure for the glass skin, but also functions as an intelligent shelving solution for the interior”
