Fluttua
by / September 13, 2006

A suspended bed that hovers over your bedroom floor, almost. Lagostudio's Fluttua is actually supported by a single foot in the middle of a platform that's also attached to the wall. The effect is convincing if you don't look too far under the bed. Another Lago bed worth a look is their Morbidoso, a headboard really, made of hard foam that can also be used for storage. They also make gravity defying storage systems, their 36E8 can be suspended off a wall, expandable Net cubes stacked & curved and geometric Tangram arranged symbolically. Thanks Jan!

Hi,
I am an Interior Designer, India. I liked the furniture design concept a lot. Can you post me some more concepts which are against gravity for some public areas like food courts and lobby's, etc.

Thanks,
Jinal

we're actually doing a feature on these for one of our magazines...in Dubai.. do u have any more related designs? from different companies?
on a personal note tho...im not sure if u wud actually sleep on the fluttua...the concept is wicked...but i think it lacks security...just my opinion tho...

After reading the post of andrea about how secure the fluttua bed is. The bed is a thick metal frame that is bolted through into an solid wall, there are also fixings for a stud wall, then the slats are screwed into the frame making it solid. The weight is carried on a single steel leg, (adjustable in height) to give it its floating look. And the lighting is built into the slats. On how it sleeps is on what sort of mattress you put on it, i have a memory foam and spring mattress its great.
Hope this helps any one thinking of one.
