Genetic
by / September 6, 2006

Sydney based architect Chris Bosse sent us a note about his latest work, the Genetic Pavilion (above left), on show at the ENTRY2006 exhibition at the world heritage site Zeche Zollverein in Germany. If you look at his portfolio it’s clearly an extension of the work he’s done since 2000, notably his Genetic Furniture, which caught our eye. “The phenomenology and structure of micro-organisms like coral polyps or radiolarians are the basis of the computer simulation of naturally evolving systems. In the field of ‘genetic architecture’, algorithmic codes are created. These codes trigger chains of commands that are similar to organic growth. In this way, the process of design is replaced by the process of discovery and selection.”.
