This year IDEA has added a new spin to its annual THAW exhibit. IDEA is asking designers to not only consider aesthetic quality, but to add sustainability to the design process. They have created a persona that requires designers to create an item that Agnes Pettersen would buy. The show boasts talented entries from around the globe, all addressing the green theme in a number of interesting combinations. One of our favorites is IDEA member Thomas Rasmussen and Allison Jillings' Atbag made of the by-products of diecut neoprene. More to come... JGB

Thomas Rasmussen and Allison Jillings' Atbag. Rasmussen, originally from Edmonton now residing in Vancouver, made the handbag out of a by-product of an industrial process that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Using the leftover from diecut gaskets on neoprene rubber sheet, they sewed it into a felt handbag.
