ICFF 2006: Offi Bassinet
by / June 8, 2006

Recent graduate and now professional industrial designer Heidi Newell demonstrated her Offi Bassinet design for us at ICFF. The innovative bent ply baby bed can be used as a rocker with the base in one position and as a fixed bed with the base flipped on its side. The bed and baby can also be easily transported when the top is removed from the base. This year’s ICFF saw more innovation for kids & baby than any other category. Consider Yves Behar's Calla, DucDuc's The Table and now, the Offi Bassinet. BTW, the baby sound effects in the video were purely coincidental. UPDATE: the YouTube video suffers from a low frame rate... we tried uploading various formats to no avail.

This looks alarmingly like a BBQ for babies.

It's the black finish that gives it that "look". Heidi mentioned off-camera that the production bassinet will have a natural wood finish.

I remember seeing this at the show and being surprised by it. I think the canister-like top seemed a bit sterile, but once I gave it a closer look I really enjoyed it. Several of my baby-bound friends were all over it- apparently the US crib market is quite dull.

I love that bassinet!!! Is it possible to purchase? If yes where and how much are they?
