Nice to hear this. I've personally always considered the work at Apple during his tenure the most interesting.

This is old news. A show on The Discovery Channel related to design documented the development of this product at Pentagram two years ago if I recall correctly.

It's "outta beta and in full release"... that's the news.

Yes, I saw this project before. Actually, this one was developed for DWR.

FYI, I am a designer at Pentagram. The Fuego grill was originally developed as part of the Discovery Channel show, but Pentagram retained the rights to the design. When no BBQ manufacturers were interested in the design (they did not get it), Robert Brunner formed a new company - Fuego North America - with another client and an Italian manufacturing company. After a year of development, it was announced again at the KBIS show in Chicago in April. It has been very enthusiastically accepted by press and distributors. It will be available in September through high end appliance distributors nationwide. DWR only appeared as a sponsor for the design in the show, but may include it in their catalog.

thanks.

Any price estimates?

I thought that it was cool. we watched a video about it in my Marketing Principles class. Very interesting design. I liked all the things that were put into designing this grill.

It's a beautiful grill, no doubt. But how good is it at actually cooking? The world's finest grills, like for example Weber, all have covers that are specially designed to shape the flow of the heat inside the grill. Good grilling technique tells you to touch the food as little as possible and lift the lid as little as possible, so that the shape of the inner chamber can cook the food in a specific way. A quick look at "pro bbq" competitions show many custom made grills and smokers - all designed to be operated fully-closed.

I'm wondering what research, if any, went into the decision to exclude a cover, from the standpoint of cooking the food well?

Too bad the $10,000 grill won't look so hip after being covered in layers of grease and rust. But for those spoiled millionaires out there, this is a must-have.

fyi its great at cooking. the food is always cooked to perfection, and it does have a lid, you just can't see it in the photos because it tucks away behind the grill. its a fabulous design

Very nice!!!!Trés trés beau!Where could we purchase!!!!!!

I think biggest problem with this grill is the fact that it missed one of the key components of American grilling psychic (perhaps lack of research?). Americans do not like open grilling (unlike Australians and Europeans) and most people here in US leave their lid close while cooking for various reasons. It is great looking piece of design but can you image this product with lid on it? It will look like everyone else.
