Williamsburg’s The Future Perfect hosted an exhibition by Imu & Friends, a group of Finnish and Helsinki-based designers, all in possession of a healthy sense of humour, not to mention practicality. Better View Tokyo by Elina Aaalto was a fantastic window blind with cut-outs representing apartment windows. Klaus Aalto brought us Stereo, a table with a removable top that can be hung as a picture. Our favorite Klaus Aalto piece was Take Out, a storage system that incorporates portable suitcases instead of drawers. Also terrific were the glow in the dark flower brooches by Saava Renvall. One of the most interesting pieces was the Footstool, a receiver-shaped piece of hollow plastic that turns an empty water bottle into a small seat, and is also handy as the bottle carrier. SM
