There is something about the work of Winnipeg-based designer Matthew Kroeker that is distinctly Canadian. Our particular favorite is the recent addition to his collection called Splinter. Splinter is a wood and aluminum bench that, like the properties of wood, 'splinters' in half to create two separate chairs. Matthew showed Splinter at the Toronto Interior Design Show earlier this year where he was awarded the Metropolis Magazine best prototype award, and was also part of Wallpaper Magazine's Global Exhibition at the 2006 Salon Del Mobile in Milan. In the past Kroeker exhibited his old stock candleholders with Motherbrand, and has produced many other great products including Dwell, a table and chair that nest together. JGB
