The OPOS design group in Milan recently announced its selections for its 2006 Transformer competition, where almost 250 entries were pared down to sixteen designs produced by young designers from all over the world. The selected designs were then presented at the Salone del Mobile. Transformation was the theme and all of the chosen projects were fine examples of objects that had undergone certain change. Belts become tools of measurement, an ordinary chair is souped up, clogs assume a hot water bottle effect – the idea of change is the only constant. SM
