The week started with a bang at Art MoCo with Sarah Pickering’s series of explosive photos. Pickering focuses on bombs detonated in the middle of peaceful meadows.

After all that excitement, it was no wonder we turned to the decadence brought to us by Beverly Shipko.Shipko served up some luscious still lifes that are bound to send viewers to the nearest dessert menu.

Tokihiro Sato’s photo studies involve a bit of smoke and mirrors to bring about his long exposure shots that will add a sort of funhouse effect to any scene.

We were faced with a mix of nostalgia and regret at the sight of J. Bennett Fitts’ series of photos entitled No Lifeguard On Duty, which takes a look at disused swimming pools that have been disowned by their roadside motels.

Arlene Shechet’s sculpture installation of glass ropes provided a zen-like contrast to the vivid works on paper by Jacob Lawrence.

And we round things off with a ton of tires by Tomory Dodge. SM
