Alessi has launched its Spring 2006 Collection. Lots of new products by first class designers but also the presentation, for the first time in the company’s history, of two new Alessi brands. Along with the company’s mainstream collection we now have the Officina Alessi collection that includes the most sophisticated, expensive, experimental and innovative products, as well as the limited editions of A di Alessi, another collection, that includes the most democratic and accessible products. Among the new products; MoiraMoira, a set of tablecloth and transparent plastic mats and coasters designed by Ron Arad, place the mats over the tablecloth to create a curious kaleidoscope effect. Stefano Giovannoni enlarges his 'all steel' kitchen appliances range begun in 2003 with 'Toaster'. Japanese architect Toyo Ito signs Ku, a beautiful porcelain table set that comes with two cup versions, one with lovely ear shaped handles. Miriam Mirri, who has been designing many products for Alessi's latest collections, presents Babette, a joyful set of porcelain coffee cups. Pina is the simple and elegant coffee maker designed by minimalism Italian icon Piero Lisoni, his first contribution to an Alessi catalogue. Ba-rock is the first result of a meta-project research on the theme of hyper-decoration, designed by Florence based architect Marta Sansoni. Jasper Morrison opens up the A di Alessi collection with a difficult task, create a new set of pots and pans at a lower price without compromising design, quality and functionality. The result is absolutely outstanding. And for the first time Alessi introduces a furniture piece, the coffee table Blow Up made of multiple stainless steel sticks designed by the Campana brothers.
