Don Relyea’s Digital Postmodern Modernist Generator generates art by taking colour palettes from a variety of combinations, then the engine creates a 3D virtual world. Once that is done, an image of this world is extracted, only to be deconstructed and then reconstructed. Layers are randomly merged and stacked, shapes are added and a final image is created. Relyea combines the worlds of art and science to create software art projects that use tools provided by traditional artists to generate works that are based on contemporary pixels and algorithms. SM
